Journalists gathered in Ankara for İsmail Arı and Alican Uludağ: Free the detained journalists!

Journalists’ professional organisations gathered outside the Ankara office of BirGün newspaper to protest against the detention and arrest of journalists and to call for solidarity. Speaking at the event, BirGün’s Ankara Representative Nurcan Bilge Gökdemir said: “All detained journalists must be released immediately, and the pressure and threats against journalism must cease at once. We declare once again: Journalism is not a crime. Prison is no place for journalists. Silence and censorship kill democracy," she said.
