Food inflation will not fall as long as dependence on imports persists

Agricultural input inflation has not fallen below 28% for years. With input inflation standing at 0.44% monthly and 36.65% annually, as reported by TÜİK, the country remains fourth in the world and first in Europe for food inflation. Agricultural economist Özden stated that, unless dependence on imports and the corporate-food regime come to an end, the inflationary pressure on both producers and consumers will not cease. She emphasised the need for farmers to organise themselves.
